Colin Farrell tries to check in on his sons’ emotional well-being regularly, but admits they just tell him to “fuck off”.
The In Bruges actor is the father of two boys, James, 19, with model Kim Bordenave and Henry, 13, with actress Alicja Bachleda-Curus. He revealed that he likes to strike up emotional conversations with teenagers to make sure they are okay. okay, but it’s often rebuffed with strong language.
In an interview with the Guardian, Colin explained: “They’re like, ‘Would you just fuck yourself up?’ But guys like us like to talk about our feelings.”
He added, “We don’t have to be lyrical about every f****** thing, but we try to strike a balance.”
The actor went on to say that his on-screen work helps him stay in touch with his emotional side, saying, “Work is just a way to find out. So is fatherhood. So is art. , although I don’t know much about it.”
Colin previously opened up about being a dad in an interview with OK! magazine, revealing that they are “the most important thing” in her life.
He said, “My children are my masters. They instill a lot of fear and judgment in me. Having children is the most important thing in my life. All this acting business pales in comparison.
“Don’t get me wrong, I know I’m one of the lucky people who derive some meaning from my work. And, complacently, I sometimes have fun in what I do, but being the father of these two boys is by far the most difficult, rewarding, meaningful and consequential thing I will ever do.”
Colin added of his sons: “Fatherhood has completely changed me. It changes me every day. I don’t know what I do most of the time – or all the time – but I love my boys. I like them a lot a lot.”
