DaeShawn Forrest finds happiness on “Once More”
Although young with plenty of life to live, DaeShawn Forrest, a 22-year-old artist and producer from the Bay Area, can confidently say that he’s been through quite a bit in his life so far. Since March, DaeShawn has told his story of grief, depression, suicidal thoughts and more through his music. Each of the last three months, he has released a single and a music video leading up to the release of his next album, Transparent 2. In his art, his listeners have been able to see how his battle with depression has affected his life and even the life . of those around him.
Now the story continues with her 4th single, “Once More”. After seeing how he struggled, now we can see him finally see the light at the end of the long dark tunnel. “Once More” is a mix of hip-hop and R&B in which DaeShawn, with the help of singer Le’Tresse Cherie and rapper KD the Poet, expresses how amazing it is to feel alive again.
“This song really means a lot to me,” Forrest said. “Sometimes when you’ve been feeling down for a long time, you can start to think things won’t get better for you. It was kind of my way of thinking for a little while. Until one day I noticed that things weren’t as bad as they used to be and the feeling of heaviness I used to feel wasn’t as strong as before. That’s when I realized I was truly healing and getting through it.
“Once More” is yet another song by the young artist with a very powerful message behind it. Not only does the song highlight DaeShawn’s experiences, but in another sense, it emphasizes the importance of overcoming your difficulties. DaeShawn uses this song to convey a message that even if things are bad in the moment, they won’t be after a while.
On his Instagram Story, DaeShawn had mentioned that “Once More” is the fourth and final single he is releasing from his upcoming album, Transparent 2. He also mentioned that he will be revealing more details regarding the project shortly.
