Downton Abbey: The Old A New Era Movie’s Release Date Has Been Filled, And Honestly, I Couldn’t Be Happier

The theatrical landscape of upcoming movies in 2022 is still a bit fragile, as the headlines continue to move around the calendar. Sadly, Downton Abbey: A New Era is one of those films that has been subjected to this kind of strategy, and as an eager fan of the promised adventure in the sequel trailer, I’m a little depressed about it. However, a new movie filled in the old March release date, and looking at the movie that took that spot, I honestly couldn’t be happier.
Which movie took Downton Abbey: A New Age’s March release date?
Another title from Focus characteristics stable has been pushed back to a March 18 release date following this new round of studio moves. So what kind of movie could make me happy that I have to wait a few more months to reunite with the Crawley family? Well, as you’ll see in the trailer below, another movie that’s been on my radar is taking advantage of that good fortune: director Graham Moore The clothe:
Between my love of neo-noir pots, mysteries and, of course, the James Bond series, The clothe is one hell of a step to my movies wheelhouse. With a cast that includes Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutsch, Simon Russell Beale and Dylan O’Brien (wearing a more traditional look from the last time we saw him), among other things, it’s a hard list to ignore. Throw in a plot that involves a tailor’s shop, clandestine dealings with mobs, and bitter confrontations between tough characters, and I’d say you’ve got something practically irresistible. Which partly explains why this new delay is probably a step in the right direction.
Why I couldn’t be happier the outfit was moved
While I understand that my tastes are very firmly in a select niche, The clothe has been announced for a while, and hasn’t seen much traction. As the trailer above debuted last November, it doesn’t seem like much buzz has been given to this potential hit. Thanks to Downton Abbey: A New Era big move in a May 2022 release datethe fortunes of the film could change, as this high-profile decision may bring more attention to a film that is flying under the radar.
Downton’s Prestige will have people flocking to theaters every time it opens, as it’s another one of those niches that has a solid fan base. Again, it was the movie that beat Rambo: Last Blood and Ad Astra to mark a personal record for his home studio. For moviegoers who enjoy the kind of titles the Focus Features brand chooses to spotlight, it’s good news that a new movie has already been announced to fill that gap in the movie calendar. Have you ever planned a night at the cinema for when Downton Abbey 2 was to debut? You can gladly respect this date thanks to The clothe being cut from the same studio fabric. Just be warned: The barbs in this thriller are sharper than anything the Dowager Countess could throw, because there are real cuts involved.
Just in case you weren’t aware, Downton Abbey: A New Era has now been moved to a May 20 release date in the US, with the UK picking up the film earlier on April 29. During this time, The clothe will open on March 18, to continue having fun with all its deadly secrets.
