Essentia Health eases visitor restrictions
Essentia Health is returning to visits by pre-pandemic patients to its hospitals and clinics as the prevalence of COVID-19 cases declines in the region.
The healthcare provider relaxed its visitor policy in May by allowing two adult visitors per patient at all clinics and hospitals. These restrictions were lifted on Tuesday July 6.
The decision was made carefully after assessing several criteria, including the number of new COVID-19 cases locally and the percentage of patients hospitalized, hospital officials said in a press release. These changes are based on space availability, so visitors may still be limited in some units.
Masks are mandatory among everyone at Essentia Health facilities, and the healthcare provider will continue to screen all patients and visitors for symptoms of COVID-19. In addition, no outside food or drink will be allowed.
Visitor restrictions remain in place for COVID-19 positive patients, as well as for patients suspected of having COVID-19. Visitor prerequisites for patients requiring assistance with communication, personal care issues, and end-of-life situations must be approved by the patient care team.
