Shaughna Phillips has documented her lip filler disbanding, saying she wanted to “practice what she preaches” after encouraging her fans to “separate their happiness from their body image”.

The former Love Island contestant, 27, admitted she was ‘nervous’ for the proceedings as she took to Instagram on Monday to address her followers while walking through Marylebone in London in the video.

She began, “The real reason I share my lip dissolving journey is because I preached about separating your happiness from your body image.

“I’ve been postponing this for so long because I can’t stand the thought of having lips anymore. It’ll all be done in two weeks, all fresh and new, so I’m trying to practice what I preach.

In her edit, she took off her oversized sunglasses in order to record herself inside the establishment undergoing a skin test before her pout was injected as she squinted.

After the date, she announced, “I’m done. My lips are a little swollen from the treatment, they will be gone in about six hours and then I won’t have any lips so I’m going to enjoy those six hours.

‘You know, what you build in your head, but it’s really nothing, is it? It’s bloody lips, life goes on. It really wasn’t that bad.

In her caption, she gushed: ‘I HAVE MY LIPS DISSOLVED

‘My amazing @dermaplusaesthetics has been doing my lips for 8 years now, but it was time for a fresh start.

“I had bumps on my lower lip and migration on my upper lip mainly because I still had lip filler while I had invisalign. Yes, my dentist told me not to, no, I didn’t listen, yes, I’m at**t.

“I was SO hesitant about getting my lips dissolved because I honestly can’t even remember what I look like without them!” But there’s more to life than the size of your fucking lips,” she continued.

However, although the star has dissolved her current lip filler, she revealed she will be back shortly to add some more.

Shaughna added: “I’ll be back in 2 weeks and I’ll start from scratch, this time I’ll do a little bit here and there so I can really get in shape, I can’t wait.”

It comes after Shaughna took to Twitter on Monday to share a photo of herself taken in 2017 while “battling an eating disorder”.

In a bid to raise awareness of lipedema – a condition Shaughna suffers from – the reality TV star posted a picture of herself wearing a bikini in Dubai.

Alongside this, she wrote, “I was underweight. I tortured myself in the gym. However, my legs were getting bigger and bigger.

Shaughna underwent leg liposuction in September 2020 after discovering she had lipedema.

She wrote in full: ‘Just found a pic of me from Dubai 2017 and it’s such a clear example of what #Lipoedema looks like.

“How anyone can accuse sufferers of being lazy/fat is beyond me. It’s a medical condition suffered by 1 in 11 women, often silently, often misdiagnosed.

Shaughna continued, “In this photo I was battling an eating disorder. I was underweight. I tortured myself in the gym.

“Still, my legs were getting bigger and bigger. Lipoedema has nothing to do with being overweight.

She concluded: “So damaging to continue to treat women like it’s their fault.”

In August, the media personality spoke exclusively to MailOnline about her surgery after being diagnosed with lipoedema.

She revealed her mum Tracy followed her with a mop during her “messy and long” recovery from leg surgery.

Oh my!

Oh my! “It’s messy and it’s long. Your wounds are left open to leak out. My mom was following me everywhere with a mop. She was changing my bandage,” Shaughna explained

Shaughna admitted her confidence has skyrocketed since the operation, but she worries that other people don’t think there is a significant difference.

She said: ‘I had nothing to hide about the operation. I would have felt like a fraud if I had arrived four, five months later with thinner legs, and girls with lipoedema were like, “Oh, she doesn’t look like me anymore.”

“I feel more confident now, but when I go out I worry people will think ‘ohh her legs aren’t that different’. To me they look completely different.

‘When I watch old clips, the difference is amazing.

“If I had the money before Love Island, I would have done it.”

Lipedema, the condition causing thick, long and painful thighs

Lipedema is a chronic disease usually affecting the legs and thighs.

Fat accumulation is not caused by obesity, and diet and exercise have little impact on the condition.

Research suggests it is caused by hormonal changes such as those that occur during pregnancy or puberty.

It is usually treated with liposuction.
