JKBOSE Revokes Age Relaxation: Only 14+ Students Are Allowed to Take Class X Exam

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has revoked the six-month age relaxation for students taking the Class X exam.
“It is hereby notified for the information of all concerned that the relaxation of the age limit up to six (6) months prescribed for sitting the secondary school examination (class 109) which was given to students is hereby revoked,” Dr. Farooq Ahmad Peer, Director of Studies, said in a notification.
Dr. Peer said that now only students who reach the age of 14 on November 1 in the case of Kashmir Division / Winter Zone of Jammu Division / UT of Ladakh and the May 1 in the case of summer zone areas of Jammu division will be eligible for appearing in class 10 exam.
“No candidate under the age of 13(+) on November 1 and May 1 preceding the year in which they are due to sit for the secondary school exam will now be eligible to enroll in Class 10,” did he declare.
This notification shall come into effect from Annual (Regular) Review 2023 in case of Kashmir Division / Winter Zone of Jammu Division / UT Ladakh Division and Annual (Regular) Review 2024 in the case of summer zone areas of Jammu Division, and beyond.
