LIBERTYVILLE, IL – A woman and her baby escaped a domestic incident, which ended with the arrest of a man accused of hitting an officer, at a business near Libertyville early Friday, announced authorities.

Christian Castro, 33, now faces multiple charges in connection with the early morning incident at the unincorporated 14000 block business of West Petronella Drive in Libertyville. Police said they were called to the business at 1:45 a.m. with a report that a woman in the family was beaten by a man in a sleeping area at the business.

The caller was unable to keep in touch with the family member and told police she believed the man, who was later identified as Castro, was not allowing the woman to use his phone, according to a police press release.

The deputies went to check on the woman’s condition and were approached by Castro who became verbally and physically aggressive with the deputies. While in custody, he punched a deputy in the face, breaking his glasses and severing his face.

He continued to push the two MPs before they could restrain and handcuff Castro, according to the press release. MPs found the woman and her baby and they were both fine, authorities said.

Police learned that Castro broke the woman’s phone and refused to let her leave the company, police said.

The deputies injured in the incident are also well and did not require medical attention.

Castro is in custody at the Lake County Jail as he awaits a Friday morning hearing. He is charged with aggravated assault and battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.
