Mental Health Action Day Encourages To Check Out Others, Find Help For Yourself

(WKOW) – A new initiative aims to advance the conversation about mental health from awareness to action.

Thursday, May 20, 2021 has been declared “Mental Health Day of Action,” sponsored primarily by Viacom and MTV.

Mental health is health – and no matter what you’re going through, there are ways you can take action to support yourself and those around you.

the Mental Health Day of Action website said the day was organized because of the enormous pressure the pandemic has placed on people’s mental health.

“As a result of COVID-19, millions of people have discovered new mental health issues and millions more have seen their existing problems exacerbated,” the website read. “We must act now to meet the needs of our communities and identify opportunities to build long-term resilience.”

People are encouraged to “do what is right for them” to take action, which could include finding a therapist, reaching out to a friend, starting to meditate, and more.

A number of organizations across the country are participating in the day of action. He also followed a trend on Twitter, with accounts from Nickelodeon (a Viacom property) to UNICEF to President Joe Biden.

To anyone with mental health issues, I want you to know that you are not alone. On this day of action for mental health, my administration is committed to breaking down barriers and ensuring that everyone has the support they need to heal, heal and thrive.

There are a number of resources available for people to promote the Mental Health Day of Action on a separate website entirely devoted to awareness.
