Treehouse lodging offers a unique way to comfortably commune with nature.

Staying in the middle of nowhere can be an exciting experience, especially if the place you are staying is exceptionally high above the ground.

Treehouses have multiplied in Slovakia in recent years. In addition to fulfilling a childhood dream – who has never dreamed of having a house in the trees? – an elevated stay allows holidaymakers to discover a locality that would probably be avoided if a treehouse had not been built there.

“First of all, it’s accommodation about experience, feeling what it’s like to spend time and nights in a tree house that moves in the wind and thus be in connection with the environment and nature,” Peter Valentšík, owner of Oaktreehouse in Modra, told the Slovak Spectator.

There are about 20 such treehouses in Slovakia, but more are under construction.

Even though each of them offers a slightly different experience, they all offer a connection with nature and usually a morning basket with a hearty breakfast.

Nights on the terrace

Martina Magulová booked a night in a tree house in Trenčianske Teplice with her husband and grandson five years ago, when this type of accommodation was just beginning to gain popularity in Slovakia.

“Just arriving at the tree house, which was a novelty at the time in Slovakia, caused a wow effect,” Magulová told the Slovak Spectator.
