Special session of the World Health Assembly November 29, 2021

The World Health Assembly (WHA) will meet for a special session from November 29 to December 1.
AMS normally meets every May. This extraordinary session (the second in the history of WHO) was convened by a decision adopted by Member States at the Seventy-fourth World Health Assembly: Decision WHA74 (16).
During the session, Member States will consider the following single substantive agenda item:
Consideration of the benefits of developing a WHO international convention, agreement or other instrument on pandemic preparedness and response with a view to establishing an intergovernmental process to draft and negotiate such convention, agreement or other international instrument on pandemic preparedness and response, taking into account the report of the Working Group on Strengthening WHO’s Preparedness and Response to Health Emergencies.
The Working Group on Strengthening WHO’s Health Emergency Preparedness and Response, established at WHA74, met five times and reviewed the findings of several bodies in preparedness of his report.
The sessions will be public and webcast on this page and other WHO channels.
