STA eases expiration of vehicle-related documents

Bhubaneswar: The National Transport Authority today issued an order relaxing the expiration of vehicle documents. In this case, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways requested the state government to extend the validity of the suitability, permit, DL, registration certificate, etc.
Below are the details:
Certificate of physical condition: Certificate of fitness for all motor vehicles that have expired since 01.92’920 or would expire before 31.10.2021, these documents will be considered valid until 31.10.2021.
Vehicle registration certificate other than transport: Registration certificate for non-transport vehicles that have expired since 01.02.2020 or would expire before 31.10.2021, these documents will be considered valid until 31.10.2021.
Driver’s license: Driving license expired since 01.02.2021 or expiring before 31.10.2021, these documents will be considered valid until 31.10.2021.
Apprentice license: Learner’s licenses that had expired since 18.03.2020 or would expire before 31.10.2021, these documents will be considered valid before 31.10.2021 because the driving license exam was canceled on 18.03.2020 This has already was notified in the letter of 18.03. 2021.
In addition, RTOs are responsible for setting up 30-day “advance meeting days” and authorizing the driver’s license test for all working days.
Holders of an apprentice license can apply to any nearest RTO office if slots are not available in the relevant RTO. In case the DL test fee has already been paid by the applicant and the slots are not available, then the applicant can go to the relevant RTO. to change the RTO where slots are available. After modification, the requester can reserve the slot in the new RTO according to his request.
Permits for the transport of goods, contractual transport, private service vehicle and bus for educational establishment: Permits for the transport of goods, contractual transport, private service vehicle and educational institution buses that have expired since 01.02.2020 or would expire before 31.10.2021, these permits will be considered valid until 31.10.2021.
The validity of the authorization issued under Chapter IV of the CMV Rules 1989 for the transport of goods and passenger vehicles is not extended with regard to the payment of the composite annual tax.
Permanent stage transport permits: All permanent staging permits issued by reciprocating states countersigned by STA, Odisha on interstate routes that have expired since 01.02.2020 or would expire before 31.10.2021, these documents will be considered valid until ‘on 31.10.2021.
Fancy number reservation: In cases where the fee paid for the reservation of the notified fancy registration number or other than the number notified from 01.02.2020 and the applicant has not been able to produce the required documents within thirty days, it will remain valid until 31.10.2021.
Payment of compensation from the Solatium Fund: Claimants who have not submitted a claim for compensation to the solatium fund whose prescription expired on or after 22.03.2020 or would expire before 31.10.2021, they can submit a claim for compensation until 31.10. .2021.
There is no extension for the following documents:
- Validity of the insurance certificate as issued by insurance companies and outside the competence of the STA;
- The validity of the PUCC has not been extended because the PUCC is only issued during the examination of the vehicle by approved test centers;
- Validity of the temporary permit; and
- The validity of the authorization issued under Chapter IV of the CMV Rules 1989 for the transport of goods and passenger vehicles is not extended with regard to the payment of the composite annual tax.
