Travelers entering Malaysia no longer need to fill in the travel card on the MySejahtera app

Effective August 1, 2022, the easing comes as Malaysia’s healthcare system is now deemed “at a good and controlled level”, the health ministry said.

The Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced this travelers entering Malaysia are no longer required to fill in the features of the Traveler’s Card in the MySejahtera application, as of August 1, 2022 (Monday).

The easing comes as the state of Malaysia’s healthcare system is now deemed “at a good and controlled level”, and to further ease entry procedures for travellers, the ministry said.

With this further relaxation of the rules, “the Ministry of Health will constantly intensify symptom monitoring activities among travelers at all international points of entry (PMAs) in Malaysia.”

If travelers are detected to have a fever through a thermal scanner upon arrival at the PMA, or if they are ill through self-testing, then they will be referred to the health service for re-examination. Once the health assessment is complete, if they are suspected of having an infectious disease such as COVID-19, monkeypox, MERS-CoV or others, they will be referred to a nearby health facility for examination and treatment more in-depth.

Concluding the statement, the Ministry of Health advised travellers: “Accordingly, all travelers who have just arrived from abroad should practice self-monitoring of their health condition, comply with prescribed SOPs and travel to the nearest health facility for examination if found to be ill.”

The same relaxation has taken effect for Malaysian citizens returning to Malaysia on or after July 4, 2022 (Monday).
